2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 "Conduct Unbecoming"

Pastor Rick Barnett goes through Paul's command to the Thessalonians to, once again, not walk in idleness. 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 "Paul's Prayer Request"

2 Thessalonians 3:1-5:

"Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, ² and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.³ But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. ⁴ And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you.⁵ Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ."

Thessalonians 2:15-17 "The Loved Ones" (Part 2)

Pastor Rick continues to unfold Paul's desire for the Thessalonians to stand firm, amist false teaching of Jesus' second coming, in the traditions and teachings that has been given to them. He closes truths of God's great love, comfort, and hope he gives through Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 2:15-17:

"Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work."

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 "The Loved Ones" (Part 1)

Pastor Rick Barnett preaches through 2 Thess. 2:13-14, expounding on the contrast between we who are saved and unbelievers talked about in the previous verses. He encourages us to be people who are grateful for having recieved the truth, saved, and who will obtain glory.

 

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14:

¹³ "But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, ¹⁴ to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ."

2 Thessalonians 2:8-12 "The Lawless One" (Part 2)

Pastor Rick continues in 2 Thessalonians teaching through the Lord's coming and the events to come.

2 Thessalonians 2:8-12:

⁸ "And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. ⁹ The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, ¹² that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

Romans 12:1-2 "The renewal of our minds"

Guest speaker, Pastor Bob Haag, preaches on Romans 12:1-2. He recaps the mercy of God through chapers 1-11 of Romans and then elaborates on how Paul says the Romans and us today should live our lives in knowing and experiencing God's mercy through Jesus Christ.

Romans 12:1-2

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. ² And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

Luke 4:18-21 "Why Jesus Came"

Pastor Rich Rose, from Tokyo, follows up with the celebrating the birth of Christ with again reminding us "why Jesus came". From Luke 4:18-21 we see what Jesus' mission was that he came to fulfill. Hope your blessed by it.

Luke 4:18-21:

¹⁸ “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
¹⁹ To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

²⁰ Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. ²¹ And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Haggai 1:1-15 "A New Year Consideration"

Pastor Rick preaches on Haggai chapter 1, focusing on how God commands the Israelites in Haggai's time to consider their ways that they need to change. He then challenges us to consider our ways as we begin the New Year.

HAGGAI 1:

"1 In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying, ² “Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying: ‘This people says, “The time has not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built.”’” ³ Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying, ⁴ “Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple^[a]to lie in ruins?” ⁵ Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways! ⁶ “You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.” ⁷ Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways! ⁸ Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,” says the Lord. ⁹ “You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Isaiah 9:6 "What's in a Name?"

Pastor Rick teaches through Isaiah 9:6, encouraging the body of Christ with descriptions of the different names of Christ found in Isaiah 9:6.

And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
